We got a phone call from a producer who was working for the Travel Channel and wanted to do a piece on the Jersey Devil. Trouble was, the host of the show was from Los Angeles, California, and would be returning home within a few days, so time was short. We managed to throw together a quick expedition and surprisingly had a large number of hunters available, so we were able to get involved!

The piece we were filming was very short - only 5 minutes tops - so we knew this wouldn't be a huge filming event. The producer was particularly interested in checking out Leeds Point, so we figured we would give what was wanted. We met up at JD's Pub and went over the ground rules with the film crew. Then we piled into our vehicles and were on our way to the house foundation in Leeds Point.

Upon arrival, we realized that the area we normally park our cars is completely overgrown and inaccessible at this time. Begrudgingly, we parked our cars on the side of the road and hoped that no one would give us a hard time about it. As we prepared to enter the woods, several cop cars went flying past with sirens and lights blazing, so it seemed like they had bigger problems than us to deal with that night. Lucky us - no parking tickets!

After some time spent in the local cemetery, we headed through the woods to the house. We paused for a few moments to repeatedly cover ourselves in bug spray. It was a hot night (we were in the middle of several days of a heat wave) and the bugs were everywhere. Typically, we prefer to avoid hunts during the summer months, but since this was a last minute operation, we figured we'd tough it out for the night. The film crew was very attentive when we informed them of the risks of Lyme Disease in New Jersey and the extreme need for the bug spray. They had no problems spraying themselves repeatedly.

This was Jeff's and Katie's first time at the house foundation. It was very overgrown and continues to crumble, but it is still an amazing sight to see. Jeff wasted no time and began photographing the foundation while the rest of us were interviewed by the film crew. I gave a quick "tour" of the house foundation, answering their questions and discussing some of our past experiences. Katie broke out the EMF detector while we were out there, but received no reading of any strange activity. We still have no answers as to why our batteries frequently die in this area. When we come back, we'll probably try to look into this a little further to see if we can come up with any answers.

The segment filming was quick, and since it was a Tuesday night, we wrapped up fairly quickly. Unfortunately, this left the desire to see the house foundation in detail even stronger for Katie and Jeff. But since we had already counted somewhere around 6 ticks collectively on us, it didn't seem like a good idea to stay out there. It's very difficult to conduct our research in the warmer months. We assured Jeff and Katie that we would most certainly be back in the fall/winter so that they could get a good amount of time with the house foundation.

We headed back to JD's Pub to continue some interviews with the film crew, and also to get a bit of that amazing food they serve there. More and more ticks were found crawling around on pant legs and socks, spawning several head to toe searches. Bad weather was moving in throughout the state, so our evening was wrapped up shortly after we finished eating.
