The Devil Hunters are a group of truth-seekers, not actual hunters. If you meet all of the above qualifications, and you believe you have the right amounts of curiosity, openmindedness, professionalism, and knowledge, then we could be the group for you!
We offer two different types of membership: Regular and Associate. Regular members are those who are out in the field, attending all the hunts, meetings, and events. Regular members are constantly participating in research and projects as well. These people must live within New Jersey or reasonably close to New Jersey. Associate members can be anyone who is too far away or too young to be an active hunter, but would like to participate in our research as well. Associates usually help theorize, conduct online research, and obtain and share knowledge. Associates have the opportunity to upgrade to Regular membership if at any point they meet the Regular membership requirements (see the chart above).
For our safety and the safety of all involved, we require a preliminary interview with anyone who is interested in becoming a regular member. This is necessary because there is the potential for harm to all involved, especially when out in the woods with complete strangers. Please do not be offended by our inquiries - just remember that we wish to have the safest hunts possible. We are usually willing to increase our size, as it will aid in our investigations, but we may reach full capacity at times and may not be accepting new members. You are always free to apply and we will hold your application until we begin to interview. So please excuse any long delay in response.
Unfortunately, we do not offer tours to the public at this time - only regular members can attend our regular hunts. However, we are available in some cases for special events - media, charity, educational activities, or Jersey Devil related activities. If you are interested in having us conduct a hunt for one of these types of events, please feel free to contact us (you do not have to apply to the group, we can discuss arrangements via e-mail). For the group's safety, and the safety of others, we do not allow people to go on hunts with us unless we have fully approved them (through the membership process or through a special event). We apologize for this, but it's a safety and confidentiality issue.
As always, feel free to e-mail us if you have any questions or comments about our hunts or anything else pertinent to the Jersey Devil. Just give us a little while to reply.
