Leut's Theory

| Well, here's my take on the entire Jersey Devil legend: there is something out there. I don't believe that the entire state and its neighbors could have been thrown into a state of emergency situation over nothing. And I do not believe that mass hysteria could have been that powerful in 1909 so that people in one area could "think" they see something, and then several hours later someone else in a different area also "thinks" they see something. I'm sure they really did see something. It is unfortunate that there have been so many people trying to fool the rest by creating hoaxes and fake devils for their own profit, because those are the people who ruined the face of the Jersey Devil legend. Personally, I believe the Jersey Devil to be nothing more than a highly intelligent undiscovered biological entity. It has shown behavior quite similar to any creature - nocturnal habits, carnivorous, etc. It probably suffers from the spider complex (It's more scared of us than we are of it) and runs off at the sight of humans, without harming a soul. I enjoy the legend tie-in as to the legend aspects. I also have a few theories on the legend tie-in, like perhaps Mrs. Leeds was a woman who saw the Jersey Devil and somehow became accredited with giving birth to it. Who knows? But until someone proves that there isn't something out there, I will continue to believe that there is, and I will also continue my efforts to find proof that the Jersey Devil does in fact exist. So there. |
